The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuymebayev, paid a working visit to the university’s international branch in the city of Bishkek to assess the results of its activities and determine further directions for its strategic development.
As part of the visit, the head of the educational institution held an extended meeting with the branch’s management, faculty members, staff, and students.
During the meeting, Zhanseit Kanseituly highly praised the dynamic and progressive development of the branch, particularly emphasizing its important role as a “golden bridge” in strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the field of education and science. In his speech, the Rector reminded that this structural unit is a historic project, opened on May 26, 2022, with the personal participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.
Today, the branch successfully implements 12 fundamental educational programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. Among the most in-demand are the programs in “Law,” “Management,” “Computer Engineering,” and “Foreign Philology.” Currently, 1,170 undergraduate students and 24 master’s students are enrolled at the branch. In addition, more than 633 applicants were admitted in the current academic year, which demonstrates a significant growth in the student body. The educational process is conducted in Russian and English in accordance with international standards.
During the meeting, the head of the university focused on priority areas aligned with modern educational trends, outlining tasks for the development of information technologies and pharmaceutical laboratories, full digitalization of the educational process, and strengthening international cooperation. At the same time, he emphasized the need to expand academic mobility, increase the number of dual-degree and exchange programs, as well as systematically organize online lectures by leading professors of the main university for branch students.
Special attention was given to enhancing the potential of the “Law” educational program: the Rector proposed that students and faculty jointly develop projects of practical significance in the field of legal regulation and customs control. According to him, the current generation of students, thanks to their strong command of modern technologies and creative thinking, is capable of making a real contribution to improving digital mechanisms and optimizing cross-border processes.
Following the working visit, a set of comprehensive tasks was defined to further deepen bilateral cooperation. In this regard, important decisions were made to expand academic exchange and implement joint research projects, raise the quality of educational services to a new level, organize international professional development courses for faculty and administrative staff, and gradually modernize the material-technical and scientific laboratory base of the branch.
